Leigh Academy Milestone SNI is a specialist intervention service designed to assist mainstream nurseries in effectively supporting children experiencing complex learning difficulties.
Mission:
To empower mainstream nurseries to cultivate nurturing and stimulating environments where children with additional needs can thrive. We achieve this through collaborative partnerships with families, early years professionals, and other relevant agencies, ensuring optimal outcomes for each child.
Service Access:
- Referral: Entry to the SNI program is facilitated by the North Kent Multi-Agency Panel upon recommendation from:
- Dartford Early Years Specialist Teacher
- Sevenoaks Specialist Teacher / Milestone Outreach
- Portage Service
- Assessment: A two-term assessment period takes place within the child’s mainstream setting to comprehensively evaluate their needs.
Collaborative Approach:
Throughout the assessment and support phases, we actively collaborate with:
- Parents / carers
- The child’s mainstream nursery
- Other relevant professionals (e.g. therapists, health visitors)
Support Provided:
- Individualised Support: Our interventions are tailored to each child’s unique learning style and specific needs.
- EHCP Support: We provide guidance and assistance in the application process for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) when necessary.
- Stimulating Resources: We offer a diverse range of engaging activities and resources to enhance children’s learning and development within their mainstream settings.
Staff Expertise:
- Highly Trained Staff: Our dedicated team comprises highly trained and experienced professionals specialising in supporting children with a range of needs.
- Professional Development: We provide ongoing support and training to mainstream nursery practitioners to enhance their understanding and practice in inclusive early years education.
Collaborative Partnerships:
We maintain strong relationships with other Kent County Specialist Nurseries and local nurseries to ensure the most accurate assessment and the most effective support for every child.
