International Baccalaureate Families Workshop

This is our first-ever Leigh Academy Milestone IB Families’ Workshop. The event will take place at our main site in New Ash Green and will be hosted Kyle Marsh, Assistant Principal for Phase 3, and the Milestone International Baccalaureate Coordinator. He will be supported by Frances Rimmer, IB Assistant Coordinator.

The agenda for the day is planned as follows:
9:45: Arrival
Arrival at Leigh Academy Milestone. Refreshments (tea, coffee, pastries) will be available on arrival.
10:00 – 10:15: Welcome and Introduction
Welcome from Sarah Goosani, Principal and the IB Leadership Team; Introductions: You will be invited to introduce yourself, tell us about your connection to Milestone, and share what you want to achieve during our session.
10:15 – 11:00: Session 1: What is the IB and how does this work at Milestone?
Frances will lead you through a brief tour of the IB at Milestone, introduce the IB Learner Profile, and lead an activity linked to understanding inquiry-based learning.
11:00 – 11:15: Refreshment break
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.
11:15 – 12:00: Session 2: What do we want to achieve within the IB Framework? How is this “real and relevant”?
Kyle will lead an activity which looks at the Milestone curriculum, how teachers plan through the IB, and what this looks like in practice. We will briefly visit a few classes so you can see how this looks in real life.
12:00 – 12:15: Plenary and Closing Thoughts
An opportunity for everyone to share what they think: What did you like? What would you want to see improved? Do you have a better understanding of the IB and how this looks and works at Milestone?
12:15 – 1:00: Lunch
Lunch will be provided and will give us an opportunity to discuss informally how the day went and how you want to help shape the future of education at Milestone. Please do not feel obligated to stay, but it will be our pleasure to host you and offer our thanks for your time.
